Begin Your Healing Journey
To begin our healing journey, each of us must have the courage to tell our truths. No more secrets! No more shame! The following poems tell a little of my truth.
Warning-They may be triggering.
Innocence
In the beginning
there was trust
until
my world changed forever...
I watch
the sliver of light
beneath my door
wait
for familiar shadows
to cross my threshold.
Beneath insecure blankets
a silent scream;
invasion complete...
I surrender being,
dissolve
into black hole
of Hudson Street
wonder
if everyone
has this power
to alter the Universe.
Primal fear
forces me to flee
repulsive reality
until Daddy is finished
I breathe
and scrub truth away...
Here Daddy, take her.
Isn't she pretty?
She looks a lot like me.
You can hold her
and squeeze her
and touch her
and she won't cry
or bleed or tell,
I promise...
If I could purge
that part of my brain
which stores pain,
I would replace it
with a gentle refrain;
Bach, Beethoven
or simply rain…
Those are just a few of the many poems that I have written on the topic of child abuse. Now you too, can take that first step on your healing journey, by coming into the Sacred Circle. There, once you are comfortable, once you feel safe, you can tell as much or as little of your truth as you wish.
